Citizens Redistricting Commission seeking community input
August 5, 2011 at 9:53 amDraw the Line Minnesota has announced the creation of a Minnesota Citizens Redistricting Commission that will be creating maps to share with Minnesota’s judicial redistricting panel. The Commission will be taking citizen input and testimony in locations across Minnesota during the month of August. Northfield is hosting the 2nd Congressional District’s hearing on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 7 pm at the Northfield Senior Center (there will be a Spanish language interpreter present at the hearing). Citizens across the 2nd District are invited to participate as the 15-member multi-partisan and non-partisan group gathers input.

Wage Gap to be Discussed at Annual Meeting of the League of Women Voters
April 25, 2011 at 8:10 pmMinnesota women on average are paid $11,000 dollars less each year than men with the same jobs. The gap exists in every occupation, including those dominated by women.
Debra Fitzpatrick, Program Director of the Center on Women and Public Policy at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute, will discuss this disparity at the annual meeting of the League of Women Voters of Northfield and Cannon Falls on Saturday, April 30. Refreshments will be served starting at 9:00 a.m., with the speaker beginning at 9:30. After a break, a brief business meeting will follow the speaker. The meeting will be held at the Northfield Senior Center, 1651 Jefferson Pkwy.
