Judy Covey, observer

Under an agenda item labeled 'Rice County Amendment', which was described as a 'housekeeping' item by Arlen Grussing, Planning and Zoning Director...

Motion by Brown, seconded by Minnick, carried 3-1 on roll call vote, to begin the process of amending the Rice County Zoning Map to allow for a Commercial/Industrial Zone in the area bordered by State Highway 19 on the North, County Road 1 on the South, Interstate 35 on the East and County Road 46 on the West.

Roll call vote: Aye: Minnick, Brown, Olson. Nay: Robins.
Citizens can voice their thoughts about this (2 minute limit) at next Tuesday's board meeting at 9:30 a.m.

The motion allows for a public hearing before the Rice County Planning Commission to be scheduled later in December.

Whatever happened to the Economic Development taskforce of citizens to discuss the issue of I-35 development?

Isn't the observer supposed to jump up and down and stop it, at least register a vociferous protest, when they sneak items through, vote on things that are not even on the agenda??? Heather needs support on obvious issues like this!

This is a SERIOUS process problem.
