Make Two Calls on December 7!
Call your state representative and Speaker Margaret Anderson-Kelliher
On December 7th, Minnesotans across the state will be calling their State Legislators to demonstrate their support for General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC). Please join us!
Tell your State Representative that you are concerned about the elimination of funding for General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC). Let them know you’re willing to pay increased taxes to ensure health care coverage for low-income Minnesotans.
- To find your Representative:
Call (651) 296-2146 or visit: www.gis.leg.mn/mapserver/districts/.
- To contact Speaker Kelliher:
Call (651) 296-0171 or email rep.margaret.kelliher@house.mn.
Thank Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher for her past support of GAMC, and tell her you’re willing to pay more taxes to save GAMC.
Further Action: Because it is critical that the legislature address the GAMC crisis in the opening days of session, a series of events are scheduled in the upcoming weeks to demonstrate broad support for refunding this critical health care program. Mark your calendar for the following dates:
- December 14 at 1:00, 200 State Office Building
Pack the room at the Health Care and Human Services Finance Division and Policy Committee’s GAMC alternative proposals meeting.
- Follow-up Action from December 14 hearing:
Continue to contact legislators and committee members about the need to reinstate GAMC.
- February 4 from 11:30-1:00, Capitol Rotunda
First day of session Save GAMC rally at the Capitol.
In addition, meetings are being held in the legislative districts of lawmakers whose support is critical for saving GAMC. Local LWVs in those districts will receive additional information if they are interested in turning out members for those meetings.
