The Zoning Board was asked to approve four variances at a residence on Walden Place for building projects. The Planning Commission held a public hearing on an Amendment to Future Land Use from “Lower density residential” to “Commercial” on south Highway # 3.

The Planning Commission discussed proposed revisions to the Floodplain ordinance. Dan Olson, Senior Planner, showed the Northfield Zoning Map with the Floodway along the Cannon River and the 100-Year General Floodplain, including the Carleton Lakes, Spring and Rice Creeks. Discussion of the Comprehensive Plan revisions has been narrowed to six issues by Staff. The first two sections will be the main focus for the Commission.

Most of the meeting consisted of a discussion of the Comprehensive Plan revisions for industrial land, transportation and residential density. The final plat of the Cannon Valley 3rd addition was presented as well as a variance request in east Northfield.
