2020 Voter Information–Voting

REGISTERING TO VOTE IN MINNESOTA

If you have voted in the past 4 years and still live at the same address, you are fine.
If you have moved since the last time you voted, you must re-register.
Register to vote by October 13. You can register online at https://mnvotes.sos.state.mn.us/VoterRegistration/VoterRegistrationMain.aspx
Or you can register at your polling place the same day you vote in person.

VOTING EARLY

Early in-person voting begins Friday September 18 and ends at 5 pm November 2.
In Northfield, go to the City Offices at 801 Washington Street.

VOTING ABSENTEE = BY MAIL
Any voter can request an absentee ballot without an excuse. You can apply for an absentee ballot online at https://mnvotes.sos.state.mn.us/ABRegistration/ABRegistrationStep1.aspx
Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters starting September 18.

You will need either your MN Driver’s License number or your SSN for the request,
and you must use the same number to identify yourself on the ballot envelope.

Check the instructions about sealing and signing the envelopes.
If you are already registered to vote, you do not need a witness.

Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked before or on November 3 (Election Day).
They must be received by November 10. Ballots received after that will not be counted.
To be sure of meeting the deadline, send your mail-in ballot as soon as possible.
It may travel faster if you put a first-class stamp on the pre-paid return envelope.

You may also return your ballot in person no later than 3 p.m. on Election Day.
Through October 26, you can take it to Northfield City Hall, 2nd floor training room.
After that date, take it to the Government Services Building, 320 3rd St NW, in Faribault
There is a secure drop box near the building’s south entrance.

You can track your ballot at https://mnvotes.sos.state.mn.us/AbsenteeBallotStatus.aspx
If it has not been received on Election Day, you can still go vote in person.
