Environmental Services: Julie Runkel
- Conditional Use Permit /Tatge- Section 17, Richland Township: Purfeerst questioned whether going forward, need for permits for years’ worth of capacity. Yes, for new construction. Passed
- Conditional use permit /Musta-Section 14, Forest Township- Amendment, for parking lot. Passed
Property Tax and Elections: Denise Anderson
- Exempt gambling Permit for Rice County Steam and Gas Engine, Inc., 11988 Faribault Blvd, Bridgewater Twp, Dundas, MN 55019 on September 1, 2024. Passed
Veterans Services: Tracy McBroom
a. FY 2024 CVSO Grant agreement approved for veterans benefits Motion and approval. Passed
Information Technology: Allan Klug.
- Public Safety Center Fiber and Internet- working with MN IT services to provide Internet and working with Metronet . request for services from the board to move forward. Question from Underdahl regarding “dark” fiber, which is fiber not being used; it is owned by Metronet, leased by Rice Cty, for storage of data. Secure. Passed.
- Public Safety center switches- to go inside safety center, in addition to the fire wall already in place. $174,700 quote from vender, Aruba. This is less than other comparable bids. Passed
Community services: Angela Brewer
a. Out of state travel request for Ruthann Lang and Dillon Harvey to attend 2023 Summit in Denver. Provided nationally to offer training and information regarding work, networking opportunities. Cost to attend funded through grant. Passed
Sheriff’s Office: Jesse Thomas
2022 Emergency Management Grant, $ 47415. Passed
Attorney’s Office: Brian Mortenson:
a. Renewal of on Online Westlaw Subscription. Used for research, case law. Contains state and federal statutes, decisions, precedent. Necessary for daily work, additional legal resources. Asking for 5-year renewal, which saves money over time. Approval to sign agreement with Westlaw. Purfeerst- any talk of moving to regional law libraries? Mortenson: this is separate from the law library; this is for attorneys, government based, per attorney price. Used by 12 attorneys and one paralegal. Without the subscription, one must pay a per document fee. Motion passed.
Highway: Dennis Leubbe – Chad is filling in for Dennis.
a. Award of contract #2372-SAP 066-598-023, CR 81 culvert replacement, SE of Northfield. Salvaged a Fox culvert which helped with overall costs. Bid to BCM, $117875 for this project. Passed
Administration: Sara Folsted
a. Consent agenda: Approval for Extra time/over time report 07/28/2023, Payment of bills and Personnel Appointments 08/22/2023. All passed.
Parks and Facilities; Matthew Verdick
a. Utility Easement with the City of Faribault- to go through fairgrounds a water inlet –not part of this project. Passed
b. Furniture quotes for Government Services Building and Public Safety Center- $750000 original budget, able to reduce to save about 200000 overall. This is furniture for the Safety Center, some for jail. Purfeerst: any of old furniture to be used? Yes, will use old furniture as able. Lobby furniture is most expensive, 12-year warranty. Public safety and government services are two separate projects. Passed
