Attorney Brian Mortenson and Sheriff Jesse Thomas announced a softball game Wednesday
August 27 pm to benefit Hope Center. Employees of the sheriff’s and county attorney’s offices against all other county employees.
II. ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES: Julie Runkel asked for approval of several requests for
interim use permits and waivers of zoning.
A. Interim Use Permit/Martin – Section 13 & 24, Webster Township compost processing site
Commissioners asked questions reflecting both support for this independent processing site and concern to make sure it is not a nuisance.
B. Wavier of Plat/Koktavy – Section 28, Forest Township
C. Zoning Map Amendment/Thompson – Section 21, Bridgewater Township
D. Interim Use Permit/Mariska – Section 21, Morristown Township
E. Interim Use Permit/Mathy Construction – Section 9, Forest Township
F. Cannon City Township Park Dedication Fund Request—This is a request to use $10,000
already budgeted park funds to pay for purchase and installation of a lightly used plastic
playground climber.

III. PROPERTY TAX & ELECTIONS: Denise Anderson’s deputee asked for approval of several
temporary liquor and gambling permits, including one for August, 2025.

19, 2024.
B. Application for a Temporary 3.2% On-Sale Malt Liquor license for Church of St.
Patrick, 7525 Dodd Road, Faribault, MN, 55021 on October 19, 2024.
C. MN Lawful Gambling Application for Exempt Permit for Church of St. Patrick,
Shieldville, 7525 Dodd Road, Faribault, MN, 55021 on October 19, 2024.
D. Mn Lawful Gambling Application for Exempt Permit for Rice County Steam & Gas
Engines, Inc., 11988 Faribault Boulevard, Dundas, MN, 55019 on August 31, 2025.

IV. SOCIAL SERVICES: Chris Kern asked for permission for Friendship House to accept a
grant made out of underspent funds from the South Central Community Based Initiative to enhance its gardening program, which will include adding raised beds, replacing aging kitchen appliances and supporting its biweekly participation in the farmers market, to enhance utilization of garden produce.
Approved unanimously with thanks and praise for the program.
V. COMMUNITY SERVICES: Rick Gieseke
A. Out of state travel requests
Asked for approval of two brief trips by staff for training in September and October

VI. HIGHWAY: Dennis Luebbe
A. Highway Department re-organization
Luebbe asked for approval to move a current parks position into the highway department.
