Part 1:
We build, we rise presentation (math style for learning), Lincoln Elementary School
A focus on math and expectations/goals – Implementation steps; look at data, pose a question, analyze data (root, cause, analysis), and find out the why, create a plan for growth, finalize/share/launch plan. Three legs of mathematical rigor, asked members math ⅓ +¼, said they were focusing too much on procedures before, so now they focus on conceptual understanding (built in the curriculum), identify themes, and then expand. Benchmark percentage is rising. Early math is 1st grade (high results), and math is 2nd-5th (less of an increase in results) at Lincoln, process devised/supported by staff as a way to teach math effectively for their students.

2026 School Board Handbook – MSBA Template
- Old reference guide –> updated handbook for policies/procedures/norms for school board members
- Vote for approval on Apr 20th and then reviewed annually
- Members may propose additions via email to the chair and superintendent and then discuss it in a work session
- Contents:
- Basic district history/info/background/facts/directory/values/commitments/strategies/”playbook.”
- There was a discussion around what a school board member visiting a school looks like and transparency/perception vs respect for professional courtesy and classroom environment/flow.
- Membership- post-election processes

- Board as a team- duties/governance/leadership/expectations
- Superintendent- hiring/duties/tenets/evaluations
