they had from professional learning circles in enhancing their

 All members were present.
 
In addition to the routine business, the Board heard announcements and
recognitions including the student arts exhibit at NAG, the Science
Olympiad competiton, choir and orchestra performances, and boys diving
at the State level.

Prairie Creek Charter School to assess the school’s fiscal condition,

The Northfield School Board met on Monday, February 25. 2008. Mike
Bertleson was absent. In addition to routine business, the Board
noted that John Bade, Middle School art teacher, is among 28
candidates for Teacher of the Year, sponsored by Education Minnesota.

All members were present. Kathleen Doran-Norton used the Public
Comment opportunity to encourage the Board to consider composting
kitchen waste from the school cafeterias as a way to mitigate the
pressure on the landfill, and to promote environmental responsibility.
Another district got some recent publicity for their efforts in this
connection.

Officers for the Board were elected:
Chairperson - Kari Nelson
Vice-Chairperson - Noel Stratmoen
Clerk - Katie Hargis
Treasurer - Mike Bertelson
Stipends for members of the Board were increased by $10 per month,
making the Directors’ stipend $190, and Chairperson’s stipend $250 per
month.
Committee appointments remain as they were last year.
