Concurrence on Medical Aid in Dying
Dr. Rebecca Thoman, LWV-Minneapolis
Dr. Rebecca Thoman leads the Doctors for Dignity initiative for Compassion & Choices, a national nonprofit working to improve care and expand options at the end of life. She has worked in public health policy for more than two decades, advocating for tobacco control, access to healthcare, and gun violence prevention. She ran for the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1999 and currently serves as Development Director for LWVMpls.
This presentation will cover the study and concurrence process followed recently by LWV chapters in Utah and Minnesota on the issue of Medical Aid in Dying (AID). Dr. Thoman will also present the basics of AID and where the issue stands in Minnesota. We will provide ample time for Q and A.
At 8:00 PM we will begin the business portion of the Program Planning Meeting. We will end no later than 9:00 PM. We will review the work of the past year, discuss items for attention this year, and entertain proposals to move forward to the National and State Leagues. If there are positions or studies that you want the State League to consider, please share these before the meeting by sending them to president@lwvnorthfieldmn.org and bring them to the meeting.
