Present: Purfeerst, Hoisington, Underdahl, Malacha, Peters
Public Health: Deb Purfeerst, Annual Report. (Posted on website).
5 Major Divisions: Family Child Health, Clinic and Community, Disease Prevention and Control/Emergency Preparedness, Home Care, Home Care, Long Term Care, Administration
New initiative in 2024: a monthly public health e-newsletter “Public Health Pulse”, created to increase public health communications. Archived newsletters are maintained on the county website.
Community Corrections: Angela Brewer: RFP request for a Teatment Court Defense Attorney. Would be a contracted position (grant funded, two and a half years) and a member of the treatment court team. Previously staffed by public defender’s office, but no longer available due to budget constraints. Role of Defense counsel is to preserve due process within treatment court.
Finance: Annual Ditch Inspector’s Report. Checks safety, weed control, sediment management, bank control. 25 ditches, 22 inspected in 2024. Anticipates full coverage in 2025. Six systems damaged with flooding in 2024, continuing to work with FEMA on repair, otherwise most ditches in good shape. Most counties have allotments (budget) to fix problems that come up (i.e. beaver dam in a ditch), to avoid having to come to the Board each time to request funding. Currently looking at other counties to see what they have for allocations. Would like enough to cover basic problems; will return to Board after hearing back from other counties. Would involve policy conversation, as well. Cost of repairs divided between county, landowner, watershed in which the ditch lies.
