Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the League of Women Voters with us!

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the League of Women Voters with us! We have several exciting events for September 2020

Our local history: Over the last year, three Carleton students created a video documentary exploring the history – and future –  of the Northfield-Cannon Falls League of Women Voters.  Join us in a conversation with the filmmakers on Thursday, September 10. The documentary showing will begin at 7:00 PM and the conversation will begin at 8:00 PM. You are welcome to participate in either part of the evening. Please join us via zoom: https://carleton.zoom.us/j/96626957443

You can also watch the documentary, The History of the Northfield League of Women Voters, at your convenience before the conversation.

Our state history: For the month of September, the Northfield Historical Society Museum is hosting an exhibit, “A Century of Civic Engagement: League of Women Voters Minnesota.” Come learn how the intertwined history of activism and non-partisan engagement has sustained the Minnesota League for the last century. You will find plenty of Northfield history there as well! (Also, please be reassured that the entire exhibit is touchless and that the Museum is strictly observing rules regarding physical distance and masks).

As a particular perk for League members, you can come see the exhibit for free on three dates when the Historical Society is usually closed:

Wednesday September 16th – 3 pm

Sunday September 20th – 3 pm

Thursday September 24th – 9 am

The Museum only permits nine visitors at a time within the building to ensure adequate distance, so do be aware that you may need to wait a bit before you are allowed in.

League visits to the exhibition are sponsored by the Northfield Historical Society and the Broom Fund for Public Scholarship, Carleton College.
